Yard and lea

Yard and lea are situated between the rondel and the house. Left of the broad middle path behind the sheds lies the yard: there are some fruit trees here, but it functions especially as a kind of nursery and is not open to the public.

The lea is a spacious open place with three large trees: Juglans nigra, Liriodendron tulipifera and Prunus serrulata 'Shirofugen' (still young). On the two straight sides, borders with sometimes bright colours contrast with the fresh green of the grass. The broad middle- path forks near to a well. The left branch leads to the entrance of the rondel and further to the exit of the japanese garden. The right branch leads along the lea to the entrance of the roji, the entry to the japanese garden. The rondel is fringed with Viburnum plicatum 'Rowallane', trimmed Buxus sempervirens 'Rotundifolia' ,ferns, and Hosta's.

At the outsides of the circular path  are borders with many Hemerocallis, and plants which accompany them well, like  Veronica longifolia 'Lila Karina', Molinia caerulea 'Moorhexe', Alchemilla mollis, Clematis integrifolia 'Alba',  and Persicaria amplexicaulis 'Alba'.
